Phonological Training and the Alphabet Principle: Evidence for Reciprocal Causality.

Des enfants sont entraines a l'aide d'une methode structuree de lecture phonologique, puis compares a un groupe controle ayant suivi une demarche avec langage entier et phonetique. Un test de conscience phonologique (Lindamood Auditory Conceptualization Test) s'avere etre un puissant predicteur de la reussite en lecture quel que soit le groupe d'entrainement, et permet de differencier les lecteurs bons et moyens. Cependant, dans tous les groupes, les enfants ont fait autant de progres en conscience phonologique. Les As. concluent que la conscience phonologique est une condition necessaire mais pas suffisante pour l'acquisition de la lecture
