Matériaux pour le bâtiment et le génie civil

The materials for building and civil engineering demonstrate that wide market, low cost, and high performances can go together. One example is the permanent improvement of the properties of concrete. The very fine microstructure of ultra-high strength concrete yields compressive strength higher than 300 MPa, that is about ten times the value for conventional concrete. Self-leveling concrete greatly facilitates placement. Besides cementitious materials, significant improvements can be noticed in characteristics of bitumous mixtures, wood products and glass. For all materials, efforts are made to increase reproducibility and durability, to improve esthetics, and to organize the final recycling.
