Analysis of Learners' Errors and Error Correction in Foreign Language Learning

It is unavoidable that students make various mistakes in foreign language learning and it is necessary for teachers to consider whether to correct these errors immediately and how to correct them.This paper first explores the three different attitudes toward error correction within the theoretical framework of behaviorism,mentalism and interlanguage.On this basis,the author points out that errors should be corrected in a careful and reasonable way.To be more specific,the following factors are supposed to be taken into account: learners' purpose of learning,nature of errors,learners' interlanguage level,affective factors,and learners' personality.
