Scatternet formation for Bluetooth networks with dynamic membership

We propose a scatternet formation protocol for Bluetooth-based ad hoc networks, where new node may join and leave the existing scatternet and any two nodes may be out of transmission range of each other. In this protocol, the range of scatternet adjustment is limited only to two piconets, when two nodes discover each other, which makes the protocol very simple. We evaluate the performance of the protocol based on simulation, considering dynamic membership. We show that the proposed protocol achieves high connectivity performance under dynamic membership especially for smaller areas and greater number of nodes.
