Resultados preliminares do tratamento dos pacientes submetidos a radiofreqüência (baixa freqüência, somnoplastia) no ronco e apnéia leve do sono

Introduction: Snoring is something that can reach between 5 to 50% of the population, thus becoming an important social and medical problem. The treatment for people who present the problem is based on behavioral measurements, CPAP and surgical procedures. Objective: To evaluate the post-surgical results of patients who have undergone Radiofrequency in palate. Study design: clinical retrospective. Material and methods: We selected 28 patients who had undergone Radiofrequency in palate, with a diagnosis of snore and sleep apnea. We have observed the post surgical result through Epworth scale, scale of snore and diurnal sleepiness, noticing the complications and the percentages of symptom improvement. The statistical analysis was performed through Mann Whytney Test. Results: 16 patients presented subjective improvement of the snoring above of 70% post surgical treatment and the 26 patients showed a significant reduction of the scales, with minimum complications. Conclusion: Radiofrequency is a safe and effective method to treat both snoring and sleep apnea. Better results can be obtained through sensible evaluation of both, pre and post-surgical status.
