Extending capacity in access beyond NG-PON2: WDM vs. TDM

Despite the recent standardization of TWDM PON by ITU-T, continued progress in increasing TDM PON capacity is essential in providing per-wavelength capacity upgrades to TWDM PONs or as an alternative TDM-only solution. We discuss candidate technologies for high-rate single-wavelength PONs.
