Method and device for rapidly switching RIP (routing information protocol) routings

The invention discloses a method and a device for rapidly switching RIP (routing information protocol) routings. The method includes the steps: maintaining all RIP routings corresponding to the same destination address in an RIP routing table, selecting one optimal RIP routing from the RIP routings corresponding to the destination address and issuing the optimal RIP routing to a hardware forwarding table by a routing receiving device; inquiring the RIP routing issued by a routing issuing device from the RIP routing table when determining that a link corresponding to the routing issuing device is faulted by the routing receiving device; deleting the RIP routing from the RIP routing table if the RIP routing is not the optimal RIP routing; deleting the RIP routing from the RIP routing table, reselecting one optimal RIP routing from the other RIP routings corresponding to the RIP routing and issuing the reselected optimal RIP routing into the hardware forwarding table if the RIP routing is the optimal RIP routing. RIP routing switching time can be shortened, and flow loss time is further shortened.
