Adaptive Physical Rate based Admission Control at EDCA in IEEE 802.11e WLANs

The IEEE 802. 11e standard allows an Admission Control (AC) mechanism based on medium time criteria, calculated from the minimum Physical Layer (PHY) Rate, for contention-based wireless access. A pessimistic minimum PHY Rate causes channel under-utilisation. Therefore, proposed is a new AC based on adaptive PHY Rate that enhances user capacity with Quality of Service (QoS) provision.
