Resonant current driven, nonresonant current coupled zero-voltage-switching converter

The authors present the analysis and design of a novel current driven, zero-voltage-switching resonant converter. By appropriately positioning the L-C tank components, the detrimental effects due to the transistor and transformer parasitics are eliminated, thus permitting operation at higher switching frequencies. In addition, a novel lossless clamping circuit is implemented to reduce transistor voltage stresses. This converter will be most effectively used for low to medium voltage applications in which minimum loads are 30% or more of full load, and voltage gain requirements are less than 0.74.<<ETX>>
