HYPOTHESIS TESTING BETWEEN SUSTAINABILITY FACTORS AND CONSTRUCTION WASTE GENERATION

Generated construction waste is influenced by various aspects which are necessary to identify for better understanding of their impact towards sustainability. Hence, this paper aims to test the hypothesis between construction waste and the sustainability elements by developing a structural model of construction waste generation. The data are gathered using questionnaire technique which consists of 13 effects factors under 3 main groups (Environment, Economic and Social). A total of 277 valid and reliable responses received from contractors, consultants and clients within 8 months of period. The testing is carried out using the bootstrapping procedure from SmartPLS software. A model of construction waste generation was developed based on 3 groups of effect factors using Partial Least Squared-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) technique. The developed model was tested and found that the 3 groups are significant with value t-value ≥ 2.58 from the bootstrapping procedure of 5000 random samples. Therefore, it indicates that the generated construction waste directly affected by the environment, economy and social aspects. The findings of this study are contributed to understand clearly the effect factors of construction waste generated
