Cordless telephones in transition

Future cordless communication systems are going through a transition from analogue frequency multiplexing to digital time division multiplexing. This paper discusses the various aspects of cordless telephones and clarifies the main differences between cordless telecommunication systems. The demand for cordless telephones has increased drastically and the technology in the personal communications services has developed significantly. A comparative study between the following systems is included: (1) first generation cordless telephone; (2) second generation cordless telephone; (3) Digital European Cordless Telephone; and (4) the Japanese Personal Handy Phone.
