Thermodynamic investigations of liquid and solid Ga-Te alloys

Abstract We report in this paper the results of the measurements of: (1) the enthalpy of formation of liquid Ga-Te melts at 1130 K by direct reaction calorimetry; (2) the heat contents and the enthalpies of melting of Ga 0.4 Te 0.6 and Ga 0.5 Te 0.5 by enthalpimetry ; and (3) the enthalpies of formation of these two compounds at 298 K by dissolution calorimetry in liquid tin and liquid gallium. The enthalpies of formation are not in agreement with the literature values but are consistent with our previous results and with the thermodynamic behaviour of the Ga-Te melts.
