BLAST WAVES GENERATED BY CONSTANT VELOCITY FLAMES: A SIMPLIFIED APPROACH

Abstract The self-similar solution to the blast waves generated by a constant velocity flame can be calculated easily if one assumes that the pressure and density between the flame and shock are constant, irre-spective of geometry. The technique of calculation is discussed and the results are compared to the exact solution (which involves numerical integration of differential equations) to assess the inaccuracies introduced by this simplifying assumption.
