Micrometeroid simulation using nuclear accelerator techniques

Abstract A two-million volt Van de Graaff accelerator has been modified so as to accelerate microparticles (dimensions the order of microns) to high velocities for micrometeroid simulation. The modification will be described and the program of research on the physics of high speed impact, which has been undertaken using the facility, will be discussed.
