THE PALEOPATHOLOGIC RIDDLE OF "SYMMETRICAL OSTEOPOROSIS".

A frequent finding in the skulls of prehistoric peoples, called "symmetrical osteoporosis" by the anthropologists, has been described and illustrated. Possible explanations for these bone alterations are reconsidered in the light of present hematologic and radiologic knowledge, and the need for fuller use of radiographic techniques in the investigation of this and other paleopathologic problems is discussed.
