L'indice de concentration : une clé pour analyser l'insertion professionnelle et évaluer les formations

The concentration index: a key to analysing employability and evaluating training External evaluation of training is based on the employment rates of course graduates, assessed using a number of criteria. The distribution of employment prospects following a training course for the various jobs occupied is studied here by means of a concentration index (the "gini"). This criterion reflects the competitive positioning of a given training course on the labour market, a position dependent on the competitive advantage it offers in respect of certain jobs. Arguably, then, training courses leading to more focused employment opportunities will achieve better employment results on average, particularly in terms of pay, skill utilisation and satisfaction. Our results demonstrate that these assumptions are confirmed by data from the Cereq Generation 98 survey. The concentration index can therefore help explain the differences in employability rates among training courses and identify likely ways to improve these results
