Contingent identity and Kripkean counterpart theory

David Lewis's counterpart-theoretic semantics for modal logic accommodates two varieties of CONTINGENT IDENTITY. I argue that one variety, contingent SELF-identity, is incoherent, but the other is fine. I revise Lewis's counterpart theory accordingly. The result is what I call Kripkean counterpart theory.
