Application of uni-traveling-carrier waveguide photodiodes in base stations of a millimeter-wave fiber-radio system

We propose a remote base station using a uni-traveling-carrier waveguide photodiode without a millimeter-wave amplifier. By using this setup that yields 0-dBm RF output at 40 GHz, error-free wireless transmission is confirmed after 20-km fiber propagation.
