Evaluation of harmonic pollution between power network and consumer

It is a fact that harmonic quality varies with working conditions of nonlinear loads and an interaction also exists between the background harmonic voltage in the power network and the harmonic current originating from consumer nonlinear loads. The available evaluation quantity for harmonic pollution (THD, S/sub N/) doesn't take these factors into account. This paper presents a harmonic pollution evaluation method based on the harmonic energy at PCC, which can reflect the polluting direction and level between the network and consumer. By selecting different integral intervals for energy computation, this method can be used for a short-term or long-term evaluation. The method is based on a single-point measurement for harmonic pollution.
