Detection of IgM Monoclonal Proteins in Serum Enhanced by Removal of IgG

A method is described for the removal of the majority of IgG from serum in order to permit the characterization of low levels of IgM monoclonal proteins. The method involves ion exchange chromatography using a commercially available kit developed for the analysis of IgM antibody titers. The procedure is rapid, easy to perform, and economical.
