Instantaneous rotation speed measurement system based on variable reluctance sensors: Model and analysis of performance

In this paper a system for the measurement of the instantaneous speed of rotating parts in turbine is proposed and modeled. The system is based on traditional and widely used variable reluctance sensors (VRSs) and on a simple, robust and accurate front-end electronics, which allows for improving the overall performance. The complete system was modeled, also taking into account the effect of non-idealities, and characterized by means of both simulations and experimental tests.
