Micro-fibrous adsorbent article and its manufacture

PURPOSE: To obtain a practical adsorbent article of which the capacity is more excellent than that of a conventional boom or pillow type adsorbent article by laminating layers containing a long boom having an oval cross section multiply and mutually connecting the layers by the entanglement of microfibers between adjacent layers. CONSTITUTION: An extruded fiber material is drawn out by a high speed gas stream to be finely divided. In this state, the fiber material is solidified as fibers until reaching a catching jig 14. As the catching jig 14, a closed loop belt 15, representatively, a microprous screen is used. This belt can be formed from a fabric, a wire fabric, rubber or a combination thereof. The surface of the catching jig is substantially parallel to the surface of a die and moves in the direction traversing the surface of the die. This moving surface of the catching jig comes into contact with microfibers first on the fiber introducing side of a catching jig 28 and a boom 31 is molded on a fiber discharge side.
