Proceedings of the Fortieth International Conference on Tools Pacific: Objects for internet, mobile and embedded applications

These proceedings contain the technical papers accepted for presentation at the Fortieth International Conference on Technology of Object-Oriented Systems and Languages held in Sydney in February 2002 (TOOLS Pacific 2002).A total of 36 submissions were received which were reviewed in full by at least three referees from the international programme committee. Twenty-one papers were accepted, and, together with the improvements suggested in the reviews, are contained in these proceedings.As with all the conferences in the TOOLS series, TOOLS PACIFIC 2002 is catholic and global. TOOLS is catholic because it describes research and applications from both academia and industry, ranging from fundamental theories of computer science to the infrastructures supporting most current and future information systems. TOOLS is global with participation from Europe, Scandinavia, the United States and United Kingdom, and Japan - as well as Australia and New Zealand.
