Design of fixed structure controllers with respect to various specifications using robust control and genetic algorithm

This paper presents a concrete approach to design controllers while taking into account industrial specifications like, for example, set-time of a step response or robustness margins. This approach combines the minimization of the H/sub /spl infin// norm of the closed-loop system and a genetic algorithm. It is flexible enough to design control laws of any structure as soon as an initial controller is known. The regulation of the steam generator of a power plant is considered to illustrate the method.
