Privacy by Design and Privacy-Invading Technologies: Safeguarding Privacy, Liberty and Security in the 21st Century

Abstract The latest technologies capable of intruding upon the right to privacy have called into question the adequacy of the US and UK/EU legal frameworks and the fundamental principles of privacy. This article focuses on addressing the foremost threats to privacy posed by the following technologies: body scanners, public CCTV microphones and CCTV loudspeakers, and human-implantable microchips (RFID implants).
