Electromagnetically‐coupled microstrip‐fed planar monopole

A printed rectangular planar monopole that is electromagnetically coupled to a microstrip feedline is investigated. In contrast to directly feeding the plate by a microstrip line, this technique offers the advantage of isolating the radiator from the feed system and provides an extra parameter to control the tuning. The electromagnetic coupling is examined in relation to the impedance-bandwidth and radiation properties, and compared to the direct microstrip-feed method. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
