AN ADAPTIVE CONTROLLER FOR THE TCSC BASED ON THE IMMERSION AND INVARIANCE DESIGN TECHNIQUE

In this paper we describe an application of the Immersion and Invariance (I&I) technique for the de- sign of a controller that guarantees stable regulation and improves the response of a Thyristor-Controlled Series Ca- pacitor (TCSC). These power electronic systems are used to control the power flow in a transmission line. The paper also reviews modeling of TCSC which are highly nonlinear systems with continuous and discontinuous dynamics. De- tailed (switched) time-domain simulations are used to verify the control performance achieved by the the proposed con- troller.
