The invention relates to electric cable diagnostic detection equipment, in particular to an automatic line patrol instrument, which is composed of: a pulley, a motor, a battery, a two-channel remote control circuit, a digital camera, and a video signal transmitting circuit. The instrument is characterized in that: the pulley is connected to a shaft of the motor, the motor is in connection with the two-channel remote control circuit, which is connected to the battery, the digital camera is connected to the video signal transmitting circuit, and the battery provides power supply respectively to the two-channel remote control circuit, the digital camera, and the video signal transmitting circuit. The instrument provided in the invention is able to observe cables in a close range, thus contributing to timely and accurate judgment of failure equipment.
