LinkWinds: interactive scientific data analysis and visualization

Great advances in sensor and computer technologies, coupled with the ability to transport sensors to remote locations such as deep in the ocean orfar into space have resulted in an ever-increasingflood of data, which, to be useful, must be transported, stwed and analyzed in a timely manner. Observational systems, computations and computer simulations are being applied in almost allfields of human endeavor in efforts to understand ourselves and our world. The system desm.bed here gmu out of a NASA research project at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Its goal is to study the application of computer graphics to the problems of rapidly and interactively exploring and analyzing uery large amounts of scientific data gathered dun’ng the execution of observations, computah’ons, or computer simulations.
