Genetic algorithm-based meter placement for static estimation of harmonic sources

In this paper, a method based on genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve the problem of optimal placement of meters for static estimation of harmonic sources in a power system. Based on the case studies undertaken in this work, it has been observed that the GA-based meter placement strategy always yields the same solution as obtained from the complete enumeration (CE) technique. Moreover, the solutions obtained by the proposed method are better than the other techniques proposed in the literature.
