Research on Three-Dimensional Parallel Modeling Algorithm with Movable Point Cloud Data

This paper presents a new modeling method – threedimensional (3D) modeling with movable point cloud data - for the mine tunnel/goaf. Compared with the traditional rigid modeling methods, the method put forward in this paper could be considered as a flexible modeling method. The concept of “movable point” means the point can be moved within a certain range in respect to certain rules by changing its 3D coordinate values. In this case, the construction and analysis of the 3D model is more efficient. Furthermore, we parallelize our method with multi-threading technique to improve the algorithm’s performance. Experimental result shows that ourmodeling method is effective for integrated modeling, and asignificant speedup is obtained in the parallel version of thealgorithm.
