Subcutaneous emphysema after percutaneous gastrostomy.

The development of techniques for percutaneous placement of gastric or transgastric jejunal feeding tubes now provides many patients with a simple, safe, and well-tolerated alternative to surgical feeding enterostomy [1 -3]. Nevertheless, occasional complications associated with insertion of a percutaneous feeding tube insertion do arise. We report the unusual finding of extensive soft-tissue emphysema preceding major external leakage of gastric contents.
