A NEW ASSOCIATION MODEL FOR THE CORRELATION OF THE SOLUBILITIES OF THE ELEMENTAL SULFUR IN SOUR GASES

In order to solve the problem that the solubility measurement of elemental sulfur in sour gases was very difficult and dangerous, based on chemical engineering thermodynamics and phase equilibrium theory of supercritical fluid,a new semi-theoretical and semi-empirical association model for calculating solubility of elemental sulfur in sour gas was established. The comparison with experimental data of literatures showed that the established association model was in good accordance with experimental data,in which the maximal absolute average discrepancy (AAD) was 5.12% (5.43% in isothermal conditions),and the average absolute average discrepancy was 3.12% (3.01% in isothermal condition),so that the accuracy was greatly improved, meeting the engineering needs sufficiently.
