Applying SODA in the NHS

This article describes Claudia Roginski's experience of applying the Strategic Option Development and Analysis (SODA) methodology The project formed the final stage of Claudia's part time MBA in 1993, in an area which had close links with her working role. Claudia does not dwell on the methodology itself, but rather on her role as facilitator during the project, and as an involved party thereafter. The following issues are addressed:- Is it possible to play the role of facilitator when the player has a vested interest?- Is it only possible to play the facilitator role if the ‘student’ role overrides the ‘interested party’ role?- What are the implications for the application of the SODA methodology within an organisation?- What are the more general implications for a newly qualified MBA in applying specific knowledge gained from an MBA in the workplace?
