The identification of toughened glass by annealing

Abstract An annealing routine was devised that produced RI changes in various glasses. When applied to 40 window, 20 non-window and 25 toughened windscreen glasses the toughened material could be distinguished from the other types. This procedure could improve the evidential value of glass for ‘hit and run’ accidents.
