Solutions to a tool-use problem in a pair of Cebus apella

Huit series d'experiences concernent l'utilisation d'outils chez un couple de singes capucins adultes (Cebus apella). Les deux sujets, mâle et femelle, utilisent des bâtons qu'ils introduisent dans les trous perces sur le couvercle d'une boite pour recuperer le miel qu'elle contient, choisissant l'outil approprie parmi des bâtons de differents diametres. Le mâle modifie immediatement les bâtons trop epais en les taillant avec ses dents, ou itilise ces bâtons pour rapprocher de lui des bâtons de la bonne taille/epaisseur mais places hors d'atteinte
