Strut-and-tie Models and Reinforcement Design for Prestressed Anchorage Plates

Through stress distribution analysis for an anchorage plate, five typical local action effects which lead to tensile stress concentration were revealed.Based on the load paths indicated by principal stress trajectories and the balance relationship among force flows, the basic configuration of strut-and-tie model for anchorage plate was proposed. In addition, further study on the approach and the basis for determining the quantitative geometric configuration was carried out.By the proposed method and as per relevant provisions of AASHTO LRFD(2007),the reinforcement design of anchorage plates was accomplished.A worked design example demonstrates that the method has good practicality.
