CFD Research on the Effect of Centrifugal Pump Outlet Angles on the Characteristics of Energy

The present deficiency about numerical simulation research on impeller outlet angle of centrifugal pumps is pointed out.In the case of different outlet angles,the flow field in a centrifugal pump whose specific speed is 118 is simulated by using commercial software FLUENT.The standard k-e turbulence model and SIMPLEC algorithm are chosen in FLUENT.The simulation is steady and moving reference frame is used to consider rotor-stator interaction.The flow analysis indicates that impeller outlet angle has an important effect on jet-wake structure in the centrifugal pump.According to the simulation results,the head and efficiency of the model are predicted and the design point calculation results are compared with the experiment results.The predicted energy characteristics show that there is a best impeller outlet angle for centrifugal pumps.The research findings can direct the hydraulic design of centrifugal pumps.
