User support from systems and operations

Meaningful user support must be a major goal for a university computer center. At Drake University, computer services are managed within an environment of very limited resources. Services to academic and administrative users are measured within the framework of university where people, not computers, are important. The user community is small. The administ rat ive users consist of those offices dealing with student records, university finances, student finances, and stat is t ica l reporting. Each off ice is geared to addressing the needs of i ts constituents within a university with approximately 5000 fu l l t ime students. Academic users consist of students and faculty involved in both instruction and research applications. Emphasis is on the application of the computer for undergraduate instruction.
