Differential Amplifier Based on Cherry-Hooper Topology for UWB M-sequence Radars

The paper describes the basic measurement of PCB assembled differential amplifier for UWB M-sequence radar. The amplifier structure is based on Cherry-Hooper differential amplifier topology. This amplifier was designed and manufactured in AMS 0.35 µm SiGe BiCMOS technology. The amplifier has been wires bonded and assembled directly on the PCB. Proposed structure was designed for 13 GHz bandwidth with 15 dB single-ended gain. The scattering and dynamic parameters, as well as the signal from radar, were measured. Power consumption is 135 mA from −3.3 V power supply and the amplifier was primarily designed for UWB directional coupler for M-sequence radar applications.
