Quantum Measurement: Beyond Paradox

In this, the 17th volume of Minnesota Studies in the Philosophy of Science, Richard Healey and Geoffrey Hellman provide an interesting compilation of papers loosely centered on the concept of measurement in quantum mechanics (QM). The collection developed out of a 1995 conference on quantum measurement and shows, on the one hand, the varied perspectives that one expects to find at a conference, and, on the other hand, a focussed framework for examining the nuances of quantum mechanics. Specifically, this volume has a decided commitment to modal interpretations. Half of the papers are dedicated to illuminating details of modal interpretations, and the remainder are friendly to modal interpretations while they address general issues.
