Computationally efficient waveform optimization for MIMO radar space time adaptive processing

Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) space time adaptive processing (STAP) have shown great potentials in enhancing the detection performance of low-velocity targets. This paper focuses on the waveform design problem for MIMO STAP. In view of the prohibitive computational complexity of the existing waveform design algorithm, we resort to the idea of cyclic optimization to iteratively design the waveforms. Owing to the significantly reduced complexity at each iteration, the proposed algorithm is much more efficient than the existing algorithm. We provide several numerical examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
