Complete Carbon and Nitrogen Budgets for the Carnivorous Amphipod, Calliopius laeviusculus (KRØYER)

The marine amphipod Calliopius laeviusculus was grown in the laboratory under maximum food levels at 8°C, 12°C, and 15°C. The effects of body size and temperature on all budget parameters were determined and equations describing each parameter as a function of body carbon and nitrogen content were used to construct and check the balance of the budgets. The energetics of the amphipod are discussed.
