Intelligent fault diagnosis of induction motor with stator winding fault

In this article, a fault diagnosis method is proposed for induction motor which suffers from stator winding shorted turn fault. During fault detection, rms values of the three phase currents are calculated and two currents are subtracted from each other to form the residuals. After the fault is detected through evaluating the developed residuals, a harmony search algorithm is adopted to estimate the fault size, i.e., the fraction of shorted turn and the fault insulation resistance. Simulation experiments are conducted and results validate the developed method.
