A CLASS OF LOAD PERTURBATIONS IN RELIABILITY EVALUATION OF ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS

ABSTRACT The modeling of random perturbations that occur in dynamic power systems is studied in this paper. These perturbations represent random fluctuations of various system components such as transmission lines and loads. Based on these random inputs, the mean first passage time (MFPT) of a dynamic system from its region of attraction will be the basis for the evaluation of the system reliability when different design criteria are considered. In this region, the planning procedure for a small power system will be simulated and results will be discussed to support the use of this index in reliability studies. The modeling of small perturbations that covers a wide range of intensities and bandwidths for a variety of fluctuations in power systems is emphasized in this paper. The proposed method relies on the stochastic analysis of a dynamic system, and small perturbations that cover a wide range of intensities and bandwidths for a variety of fluctuations in power systems are emphasized in this paper.
