Single crystal X-ray diffraction study of the spinel-type LiMn2O4

Single crystals of LiMn2O4 have been successfully synthesized for the first time. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction study confirmed the cubic spinel structure at 297 K. The structural phase transition around 285 K on the cooling process was confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray reciprocal space mapping method. Evidence of tripled periodicity toward the a and b axis directions has been observed at low temperatures.
