Commissioning and Maintenance

Commissioning procedures are outlined in this chapter with reference to the contract specification, responsibilities, documentation and the process of actually setting the system to work. Guidance is given on the operational checks, and making of a performance check. Under the heading of maintenance planned, or preventative maintenance should expose potential problems. In particular the effects of dirt accumulation, incorrect refrigerant charge and incorrect expansion valve adjustment are described. Points associated with repairs include danger of system contamination and trapping of liquid. Faultfinding and the benefits of a running log result in minimum down time. Other topics include leak testing and mandatory inspections. Attention is given to methods of validating performance and how this can provide early warning. Training helps to ensure competence of technicians.
