Comprehensive Survey of Massive MIMO for 5G Communications

Printed antennas have been the best choice for use in mobile communication systems. However, there are many important issues to be considered in designing antennas for expected 5G communication systems. Over the past decades printed slot antennas have become attractive candidates for such communication systems due to their uniplanar structure and favorite impedance characteristics. We have discussed massive MIMO and its concept implication in 5G communications. Another important concept that we have included in this paper is millimeter wave (mm-wave) spectrum that can be regarded as a key enabling technology for 5G communications where much unused spectrum is available.
