CORRELATION ANALYSIS BETWEEN DRIVER'S PUPIL AREA VARIANCE AND ROAD HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT

In this paper, the data of driver's pupil size in different road conditions is obtained through the use of vehicle driving simulator and eye tracker. Then, the relationship between driver's pupil size and road horizontal alignment is established. The results showed that: the minimum horizontal curve radius should be between 450-500m. The road alignment is closely related to the driver's vision requirements. The greater complexity of the road alignment, the greater the demand on the driver's vision. When demand is greater than driver's workload, the driver will adjust their brain load through speed adjustment in order to adapt to the requirements. In this process, the driver's physiological and psychological indicators will change along with the change in driver's brain load. The physiological changes with changes in road alignment can be measured through the use of modern physiological tester, such as eye tracking. Then the relationship between driver's physiological parameters and road alignment can be derived.This is as shown in Figure 1
