On the basis of the first and second law of thermodynamics as well as stoichiometric combustion proposed is a method for calculating and analyzing the performance parameters of a small gas turbine based cogeneration system. The method under discussion mainly involves such aspects as power plant cycle efficiency, fuel utilization rate and second law efficiency, etc. with emphasis on identifying the impact on plant performance of some major parameters, such as compressor pressure ratio, turbine inlet temperature, steam process pressure and pinch point temperature difference, etc. A case study was conducted of a 200kW gas turbine, which provided a practical and feasible method as well as reference data for the rational design of small gas turbine based cogeneration systems.
